Side Effects…

March 27th, 2013

Last week I had a lovely 28 year old client who knew what she wanted!!!

“EYELINER!”

Her mother came with her and LOVED the result. This young girl had a stroke at 19 years of age due to birth control. A devastating side effect that we do not even blink an eye at;

 She was absolutely all smiles when she left;

NOTE to remember: ALL meds have side effects….

The years….

February 26th, 2013

So your 25th, 30th, and 50th high school or college reunion is coming up! OOPS! too late for a complete refresh!

Botox- Takes only 5 days to take effect. Filler is instant gratification as long as you do not bruise.

“Oh yes, bruising, always a possibility and the inital swelling is a little much, so get it sooner than later for events!”

Also filler is layered so it takes a while for the end result.

My new FAV!! is the Venus Freeze @ Dr.  Ian Lonergan – Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Delaware.

“Amazing results- no pain- no downtime- a women or man’s dream!”

Tightening and lifting of the face and neck; I will post before and after pictures in a month!

Very affordable- again results are cumulative.

What Men Do Not Like…. You’ll love this……

Permanent Make-up Makes You Beautiful in All the Ways Men Love
When getting their permanent cosmetics done, many women ask, “Will my husband or boyfriend like this?”
Of course we ladies want to please our significant other, but do we ever think about what they don’t like? We asked some of our clients and did some research and came up with a small list to help our beautiful clients and blog readers. Believe it or not, make-up (especially lipstick) was the overall top answer. The good news is: We can help you with that!

What men say they don’t like:

1. Dark lipsticks or the feeling of lipstick on his face
2. Short “Pixie” cuts
3. Baseball hats
4. Straight-across bangs. (Most men said they think women are trying to hide a pimple or horrible brows (Of course, if you want nicer eyebrows, we can help you with that one too!)
5. Tight pony tails or buns. (Let’s face it, 90% of women look prettier with their hair down.)
6. Wild, untamed curls. (Don’t get us wrong, curly hair is beautiful but it needs to be tamed!!! (We girls at the Permanent Cosmetic Studio are LOVING the “Wen” products.)
7. Super dark eye shadow. (Men stated it really creeps them out!! The good news is: We can help you with this too; and give you soft, pretty, permanent eyeshadow.)
8. Over- tweezed eyebrows!! (Let’s face it, anyone can be a victim of this. But you don’t have to be. At the Permanent Cosmetic Studio we love making people not only feel beautiful but look it too with gorgeous, permanent eyebrows.)

The above are just suggestions of what men like or don’t like. We say: “First and foremost, be beautiful for YOU! Then be beautiful for him.” And if you want to be beautiful permanently, come see us. We will make you look and feel gorgeous!

I love helping…..

Making women even more beautiful is a joy I get to experience every day. And when I can help a woman who has survived cancer, the joy is increased. A recent client named Andrea told me her story. She opted for a double mastectomy after her sister suffered from breast cancer and they were tested for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene. Andrea was a carrier and she decided after much thought to go through with the procedure. She did her homework and chose an excellent surgeon. Her reconstruction was amazingly beautiful. I had the privilege of tattooing her aerola and lifelike nipple onto her new breasts. She loved having color and normality restored. Very realistic shading and a two dimensional nipple was achieved; I felt so happy to make someone as happy as Andrea!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 12th, 2012

We all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Every October since 1985- when the month was designated for Breast Cancer Awareness- we have seen men and women wear their pink shirts, hats, pins etc., in honor of loved ones lost to this terrible disease, or in honor of all the survivors. But what we really need to remember is what this month is actually about; we are all guilty of being so busy with work, school, or hobbies that sometimes we “forget” to do our monthly self- exams (in the shower is an easy place to do it) and yearly mammograms. It is so important we take care of ourselves and urge other women we know to do the same! Especially if you know someone who has put it off for a few years. And ladies, it is OK to examine your men too. Did you know men can get breast cancer?
Here is a link to a good self-exam  from the Susan Kormen website.  http://ww5.komen.org/Content.aspx?id=5310
A recent article in Health magazine stated,

“Four top ways to avoid breast cancer are to lose weight, exercise, drink less and quit smoking.”

Even breastfeeding helps prevent breast cancer, for you and for the children you nurse! Do research of your own and discover all the ways you can lessen your chances of getting breast cancer. There is lots of great information available on the Web or at your local library.
This month, we want to especially remember all of those we have lost to breast cancer and also the survivors that have impacted our lives so much at the Permanent Cosmetic Studio. We want to thank them for trusting us to change their lives and make it better by working on them. Being able to recreate the womanly beauty that was lost to surgery is an amazing gift we give the cancer survivors who come to us for areola pigmentation and other procedures that restore their self-confidence as they recover from their battle against breast cancer.
Please remember beauty comes in all different races, sizes, and shapes.

Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Be well!

What they say..

September 19th, 2012

Day after day clients tell me how much easier life is with permanent cosmetics.  They say being able to just enjoy every day and feel like makeup no longer rules their looks, is absolutely a dream come true.

It is fun to see how excited and happy my clients are after having their permanent cosmetics applied.  They never thought looking great could be so easy.  Suddenly, their self-esteem is heightened and they have more confidence.  The daily grind of applying their cosmetics is so much easier, and they always love the fact that it doesn’t smear, smudge, or give them “raccoon eyes.”

An added benefit of having permanent cosmetics is that the whole face is now in balance. Every feature is framed. I feel the brows are our most important feature, and to have perfectly applied brows is just wonderful. They open up the eye and make my clients look awake and alert, even when they don’t feel it. Everyone loves their eyeliner and says how much it helps the lashes appear thicker and in most cases mascara can be skipped.  (Of course, mascara always looks great.)   And to never touch up your lipstick is heaven!!!   No more feathering, no more lipstick on your cups and all you need in your purse is lipbalm, amazing!!

Life with permanent cosmetics is easy. You wake up looking and feeling your best so you can put your best face forward every day!

A new sense of humble…

July 13th, 2012

I remain forever humble in this profession because I work on your face and your unique skin type.

A lot of common sense; a gift of a good eye, and knowledge of the facial skin and the thought process of how the skin will look in 10 – 20 – 30 years. That is what you want in your permanent cosmetic artist. Some clients use permanent cosmetics as a lingerie makeup and add more everyday for their look, while others never want to put makeup on again! We all have different styles; however, experience can not be underrated in permanent cosmetics.

Today, a beautiful 28 year young- Italo – American came into my office, she is petite and very well put together- then her lips…… the ultimate caution!!!!!!!11 – outside the vermillion bored in “PURPLE!!”

How could this happen???

I have to let a little time go by to see if I feel comfortable working on those naturally gorgeous but aesthetically wrong lips?

BUYER BEWARE!

Products every women should use…

June 12th, 2012

Here is a few products I believe everyone should have!!

1. Glycolic facial wash creamy. Use as a mini exfoliation two times a week, put on skin dry and leave on 10 minutes. rinse.

” I use MD formulations Forte III glycolic cleanser”

2. Rejuvenating facial lotion. Should be used two times a week at bedtime.

” I use MD formulations Forte III skin rejuvenation lotion”

(You may get a little flaking redness; that’s good! We are trying to keep the skin perky; redness means stimulation!!)

3. Eye area- really needs a exfoliation and stimulation.

“I use MD formulations eye rejuvenation creme”

Use two times a week for six weeks; a little goes a long way, then increase to three times a week; your skin may get dry and flaky but remember under the skin you see is the skin you WANT!

So to get the moist beautiful skin you want you have to exfoliate all the dead skin off that can not be hydrated or moistened. Skin is easy, you just have to be consistent and stimulate, exfoliate, and hydrate. Acne hormonal and oily skin needs professional treatments and skin care from their professional specific to their needs.

4. Retinol/Sunblock- it’s just this simple. If you want beautiful, even toned, smooth skin you have to protect your skin EVERYDAY from the damaging rays of the sun.

“I use La Roche Posay SPF 30″

There is a SEA of sunblock on the market today. Almost every face moisturizer has at least an SPF 15; that’s great! Your foundation may also have it and the mineral powders all have SPF.

I love:

oily skin- dermatologica  oil free matte SPF (this product is amazing it has micro sponges to absorb oil)

eye area- everyday I wouldn’t be without these!

- dermatologica  total eye care SPF 15 (can use so close to the eye has titanium dioxide as sunblock; helps brighten dark circles)

- LaRoche Posay- tint/no tint very hydrating, light cover, tinted one is a universal tint.

Enjoy!

Skin…

June 8th, 2012

Everyday my clients ask for referrals and advise for their skin care needs. The most important thing to understand is that beautiful skin is a cumulative process. Yes, I come from the baby oil and iodine generation; skin poisoning and lots of painful sunburns!

Now, we use sunblock everyday and avoid the sun not only for the prevention of skin cancer, but to avoid the extrinsic photo aging.

” …. We must renew, reinvigorate, and protect our skin regularly.

Hopefully everyone has a wonderful aesthetician to help them imporve their skin regularly. If you need an aesthetician – contact me for a referal!

Have a great weekend! On Monday I will give you a list of great skin products!
